** After discussion we determined that, instead of skipping payouts using a threshold number, the "salary"-to-"dividend" ratio should be adjusted. This will prevent skipping payouts when it's unjustified, and should create more incentive for active work. We'll adjust from 50/50 to 61.8/38.2 ([https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio golden ratio]). The change will be retroactive for the last 3 months of the 6 month trial run.

** Conclusion: Take the average of kredits issued in 3 previous cycles (velocity/difficulty), which defines the payout threshold. If threshold isn't reached, there are no payouts for that cycle but the newly issued Kredits are carried over (so no work is unaccounted for). The next cycle payout is made once the threshold is reached again (easier over time with less activity, due to taking the averages from the previous cycles).

Kosmos Summit 2020

All core contributor hands on deck! After having drifted on the oceans for a while, we need to chart a good course and set the sails.

With all the basics for rapid feature development finally in place before this year's gathering, we'll be able to focus entirely on planning for, and hacking on, Kosmos Chat and Kosmos Services. And with our new initial budget, we can also start trialing our ideas for a sustainable, co-operative, open-source organization via Kosmos Kredits. Let's create a new roadmap and see where it takes us!

Everyone is invited in October to visit Sicily and HackerHouse for a while and co-work from there (both on Kosmos and non-Kosmos stuff). In addition to the flexible long-form gathering, we will have two days or so of focused sessions, in which we will discuss and collaborate on the important topics.

Dates for the Summit: October 10/11.

== Accommodations ==

There are some beds at the house itself, and also a variety of apartments in walking distance that we can use. For leisure time, there are both beaches and mountains, as well as old towns and ruins dating back to hundreds of years before the rise of Rome. Go explore!

== Getting there ==

Airports PMO and TPS are both ~1:15 hrs drive to Sambuca. PMO serves the most destinations. Please coordinate with others for sharing rental cars and/or getting picked up from the airport.

=== COVID-19 notes ===

Sambuca hasn't recorded a single case to date, and there are currently no travel restrictions in Italy for EU residents. Everything is open for business, but mask usage is currently required for shared indoor spaces other than restaurants. These notes will be kept up to date until the summit.
It seems to enter Sicily a registration is needed through their [https://siciliasicura.costruiresalute.it/welcome Sicilia Si Cura] form or app.

== Remote participation ==

Whoever cannot or does not want to participate in person, can also call in via audio/video chat for the focus sessions. We are going to upgrade the buildings's Internet connection with our provider for the Summit days, and we will organize everything needed for decent remote participation. So if you cannot or do not want to travel at the moment, it will not be necessary to do so.

Any and all help with organizing/improving remote participation is most appreciated, of course! Please join one of the upcoming weekly calls if you want to contribute to this topic.

All core contributor hands on deck! After having drifted on the oceans for a while, we need to chart a good course and set the sails.

With all the basics for rapid feature development finally in place before this year's gathering, we'll be able to focus entirely on planning for, and hacking on, Kosmos Chat and Kosmos Services. And with our new initial budget, we can also start trialing our ideas for a sustainable, co-operative, open-source organization via Kosmos Kredits. Let's create a new roadmap and see where it takes us!

Everyone is invited in October to visit Sicily and HackerHouse for a while and co-work from there (both on Kosmos and non-Kosmos stuff). In addition to the flexible long-form gathering, we will have two days or so of focused sessions, in which we will discuss and collaborate on the important topics.

There are some beds at the house itself, and also a variety of apartments in walking distance that we can use. For leisure time, there are both beaches and mountains, as well as old towns and ruins dating back to hundreds of years before the rise of Rome. Go explore!

Airports PMO and TPS are both ~1:15 hrs drive to Sambuca. PMO serves the most destinations. Please coordinate with others for sharing rental cars and/or getting picked up from the airport.

Sambuca hasn't recorded a single case to date, and there are currently no travel restrictions in Italy for EU residents. Everything is open for business, but mask usage is currently required for shared indoor spaces other than restaurants. These notes will be kept up to date until the summit.

Whoever cannot or does not want to participate in person, can also call in via audio/video chat for the focus sessions. With all the basics for rapid feature development finally in place before this year's gathering, we'll be able to focus entirely on planning for, and hacking on, Kosmos Chat and Kosmos Services. And with our new initial budget, we can also start trialing our ideas for a sustainable, co-operative, open-source organization via Kosmos Kredits. Let's create a new roadmap and see where it takes us!

Everyone is invited in October to visit Sicily and HackerHouse for a while and co-work from there (both on Kosmos and non-Kosmos stuff). In addition to the flexible long-form gathering, we will have two days or so of focused sessions, in which we will discuss and collaborate on the important topics.

There are some beds at the house itself, and also a variety of apartments in walking distance that we can use. For leisure time, there are both beaches and mountains, as well as old towns and ruins dating back to hundreds of years before the rise of Rome. Go explore!

Airports PMO and TPS are both ~1:15 hrs drive to Sambuca. PMO serves the most destinations. Please coordinate with others for sharing rental cars and/or getting picked up from the airport.

Sambuca hasn't recorded a single case to date, and there are currently no travel restrictions in Italy for EU residents. Everything is open for business, but mask usage is currently required for shared indoor spaces other than restaurants. These notes will be kept up to date until the summit.

The core team consists of a group of people, who have agreed with each other on several things:

* 67P is sorely needed an we want to use it today/asap/yesterday
* We can imagine this to be commercially successful, and we can see us founding a company for the paid/pro version and potentially working for it at some point (to whatever degree that might be)

== Goals ==

* Provide users/organizations/businesses with a modern, full-featured team communication solution, which is easy to set up and use
* Eventually provide a fully hosted, one-click-setup solution for private team communication (keeping the possibility to exchange any component at will, e.g. storing all data on a user-controller remoteStorage server instead of the 67P company's own remoteStorage servers
* Use common, open, documented data formats for storing all data, thus making it possible to use/manage/input stored data from other apps (no matter if new or existing). This is where the remoteStorage protocol is different than all other personal data storage protocols made for the Web.
* Make it possible for users to be part of and use both public and private channels/spaces/servers at the same time (no more Campfire/Hipchat/Slack for work and clients, and IRC only for open-source and hobby, all in different apps)
* Always keep the whole application in a state that can be deployed by anyone (with the necessary skills) who wishes to self-host the whole system. That explicitly includes excellent documentation for doing so.
* Reversing the trend of declining IRC users on public servers by giving everyone a great Web IRC client, most importantly making it easy to connect, register nicks, auto-log and replay messages while away — all the nitty-gritty details that even software developers struggle with these days
* Always be backwards-compatible to plain IRC. This will be achieved through smart client components, enhancing the rendering/fetching of messages on the client side, while messages transferred via servers are always plain-text and readable in IRC without spammy extra characters/lines
* Have an excellent mobile client (or multiple)
* Make use of the latest Web Platform standards, not caring about backwards-compatibility in Web runtimes (much). 67P is a modern Web application, and people not running modern Web runtimes can use plain IRC clients.
